Femmes photographes iraniennes
This book invites us to look at Iran through the lens of women, in a historical context where Iranian women are claiming their rights with determination and courage. Three generations of photographers cohabit here.
While each of them addresses one of the many issues and upheavals that Iranian society is going through, feminism transcends their works. Commitment and poetry are the key words of the works gathered. Whether documentary or conceptual, they all evoke Iranian society and contain a political charge that, if rarely expressed frontally, is often metaphorical.
The works of these 23 women photographers show an undeniable maturity and exceptional vitality.
