In 2025, the Fondation Antoine de Galbert acquired the exceptional collection of amateur and anonymous photographs from Marion & Philippe Jacquier, founders of the Lumière des Roses gallery.

This collection of almost 10,000 silver prints – family, scientific, historical, documentary and erotic – has been donated to the Musée de Grenoble.

The first part of this donation was presented at the Rencontres d’Arles (Éloge de la photographie anonyme) from July 7 to October 5, 2025, at the Saint-Trophime cloister.

Founders of the Lumière des roses gallery in 2005, Marion & Philippe Jacquier have made a name for themselves through their exploration of the vast field of anonymous, amateur photography. These pioneers, true “image seekers”, gathered photographs for their personal collection, guided by the power of the image, its beauty, its mystery, often its disturbing strangeness.

From the outset, they chose to preserve this unprecedented collection: more than a sum of images, the collection acquired by the Foundation is the result of a unique and coherent work that composes an exceptional panorama of ordinary life in the 20th century.
