This is a sacred place, inhabited for generations by a Malgache family that agreed to allow Mathieu Briand to invite a number of artists (such as Pierre Huyghe, Gabriel Kuri, Rudy Ricciotti, Francis Al\u00ffs, etc.)\u00a0 to create works in situ or send instructions for others to do so. The project is called\u00a0<i>Et in Libertalia Ego<\/i>, an allusion to the famous inscription in Nicolas Poussin\u2019s painting\u00a0<i>Et in Arcadia Ego<\/i>. The idea is to recreate Libertalia, the pirate\u2019s utopia described in\u00a0<i>A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the Most Notorious Pyrates\u00a0<\/i>(1724), whose origins are an ambiguous mix of fiction and reality.
